Old 1930s, pre World War Two vintage, leather satchel tote or document bag with red tartan print lining. This bag has the remains of an original international shipping company "American Export Lines - First Class" luggage label with an inspected baggage stamp from the US Customs Service on top of the label. The customs stamp is marked "44 - 9001" (so we're guessing that this was a stamp from 1944). American Export Lines was a US freight and passenger shipping company originally founded in 1919 as "Export Steamship Company" and renamed to "American Export Lines" in 1936 and sailed mostly between the United States and the Mediterranean.

The bag is labeled on the inside "Made in Holland".

This leather tote measures about 15" long, 6 1/2" wide and 11" high over the bag and 17" high over the handles. This has a patina of age and wear (including the remains of several other labels and stickers) with some discoloration to the bottom and wear, loose seams etc. to the red tartan lining.
