Retro ceramic rooster, 16" tall! This is not marked, but looks like vintage California pottery to us?

We love this piece, but it's not in the best of condition - this has soot staining to the inside which is visible is the piece is picked up and turned over, as well as all-over crazing with is somewhat discolored from the same soot. There's also a tight hairline to the base going upwards.
